Jade Pillow Box or Headrest

Jade is a word applied to many different stones. Most commonly prized among collectors is Nephrite and Jadeite. Serpentine, Chrysoprase, Agate, Soapstone, Malachite, also pass for Jade. This headrest is lattice carved and would be used to hold a persons valuables during sleep.  This handsome piece has a carved phoenix, dragon and a cartouche on the lid.
