Shiwanzhen Pottery Water Jug & Bowl

These two pieces of green pottery are from the Shiwanzhen Province of China. Shiwanzhen pottery is greatly valued for the jade green color glaze they are able to create from the minerals and earth properties of the region.  On the left is a small bowl and on the right a small water pitcher.  Containers such as these were used for cleaning brushes and creating paint washes for caligraphy and water color art.
